Advanced Data Generator v1.5.0 released!

This new version of the Advanced Data Generator brings you exciting new functionality, enhancements and several bugfixes. It gives you more possibilities for complex test data generation and ultimate freedom in SQL statements.

Changes for v1.5.0
New features:
  • ability to use Stored Procedures instead of auto-generated INSERT statements
  • ability to use custom (prepared) SQL statements instead of auto-generated INSERT statements
  • ability to generate INSERT INTO statements into file(s)
  • ability to generate data to CSV files
  • ability to run a project from the command line
  • ability to copy projects
  • projects can be saved with items not to be filled, but with settings for individual fields
Enhancements:
  • better error reporting when things aren't alright for filling.
  • ADO connection detects MS SQL Server and executes SET IDENTITY INSERT if applicable. Cannot be done for ODBC.
  • when loading projects from file, you can merge them with the current project.
  • ability to delete all logs for a database
  • minor GUI enhancements
  • more diagnostic messages and better error reporting
Fixes:
  • could not select connection characterset
  • MySQL: fixed possible error with DELETE statement
  • MySQL: "Field 'Index_type' not found" error for MySQL 4.0.low
  • ODBC: escapes all identifiers, avoiding errors when SQL uses reserved words and spaces in names
  • ODBC: Possible BLOB error fixed
  • ODBC: error messages cut off at 255 characters
  • ODBC: issue with N(VAR)CHAR columns fixed
  • ADO: escapes all identifiers, avoiding errors when SQL uses reserved words and spaces in names
  • Fixed item index error with using "copy value from other column" feature
  • When using the German Streets data, a dialog would popup
  • random length strings did not always honor the lower bound
  • memory leak removed when closing "Run Project" window
  • ADO/ODBC several other possible errors with regard to datatypes and parameters

  • Pro Edition
    Supports ADO and ODBC connectivity, a very generic but powerful tool

  • InterBase Edition
    Supports InterBase, better datatype recognition and faster than via ODBC/ADO

  • Firebird Edition
    Supports Firebird, better datatype recognition and faster than via ODBC/ADO

  • MySQL Edition
    Supports MySQL via direct connectivity, better datatype recognition and no MySQLLib required
