Introduction

A Physical Data Model can be created from scratch, or it can be based on an existing database.

When you use an existing database to create a model, we call this "reverse engineering", at a later stage, you can update the model from the database to reflect any changes in the database meta data.

When you create a PDM from scratch, you can extract the meta data statements to create real a database, as per your design or create a database from the Diagram Editor directly.
