New in Database Workbench 7

Released in June 2026, Database Workbench 7 introduces AI integration, a new tabbed user interface, support for dark mode as well as other new features and interface improvements.

AI Features

There is optional AI functionality fully integrated in Database Workbench. With an AI chat that understands your database, it's easy to create new SQL statement or fix errors in your SQL.

Dark Mode, Tabbed Interface and Welcome Window

Long requested, finally here. An easy-on-the-eyes dark mode. This includes specifically taylored dark mode images to avoid for best viewing.

Additionally, instead of using floating windows inside the main window, the tabbed interface is new and set as the default.

The new Welcome Windows show you your most recently used files and database connections and provides quick access to major features in the application.

Reporting and Printing Features

Reports made with the Report Designer can be exported to PDF, DOCX, HTML and RTF. And the Report Designer can print HTML text, allowing you to create even better reports than before.

SQL result sets can now be exported to PDF directly too. This has never been easier.

More Import and Export Formats, and Templates

There's new export file formats available, you can now export to JSON, LibreOffice Calc and also export binary and long text data to DBF.

New data import file formats are JSON, Excel, LibreOffice Calc and DBF.

And instead of having to go through the process of modifying options each time, you can now save your import and export options as templates. Point, click and export (or import, obviously).

There are many new user interface features in Database Workbench.

  • Integrated chat with Datty the AI Assistant. Database Workbench provides database context, allowing the AI service to create valid SQL statements or search your meta data
  • Let the AI Assistant quickly create table columns based on your input
  • With the AI integration in SQL Editor it's easier than ever to fix SQL mistakes or create or modify complex SQL statements

Either purchase an Upscene AI Subscription and select a supported AI service provider, or use your own API key for supported providers.

New Data Import and Export Features and Improvements

The Import and Export Wizards have been completely renewed, making them easier to use than ever. The new templates makes data import and export faster to start and new options provide better control, for example you can automatically delete existing data before importing new data from file.

  • New in export: JSON, LibreOffice Calc, and binary and long text data to DBF
  • New in import: Excel, JSON, LibreOffice Calc and DBF

The previous user interface distinction between exporting a single table and exporting multiple tables has been removed. Object lists can be filtered for easier object selection.
