Introduction
The Advanced Data Generator tool is a sophisticated tool allowing you to generate test data in an easy-to-use and reusable manner. The tools comes in 4 different editions:
- Pro Edition
- InterBase Edition
- Firebird Edition
- MySQL Edition
The Pro Edition connects to any ODBC and ADO data source, while the other editions connect to the different database systems only and offer database engine specific features.
Key Features
Below is a list of key features of the Advanced Data Generator.
You can't transfer legacy data? Generate real looking names, company names, addresses, e-mail addresses, city names and zipcodes. By using real-life-like data, you make testing easier and avoid those embarrassing moments during presentations yet, you have no privacy concerns about your real data. The data repository includes last names, female and male first names, city and street names from different countries and US State codes and names.
Connect to any database! The Advanced Data Generator can connect to any ODBC and ADO datasource. If there's a driver, you can connect and generate data.
Many, if not all, data types you have are supported in the Advanced Data Generator, this includes Binary BLOBs and Text BLOBs.
The Advanced Data Generator has many features that make creating data projects easier:
- User defined templates for data settings
- Auto-arrange tables according to referential constraint dependencies
- Run a project on multiple databases at once
- Ability to re-use and duplicate projects
Use files as values for BLOB data, use CSV files or an external database as the source for your data values.
You can generate data directly to your database up to thousands of rows per second or generate data to SQL script, CSV files and other file formats for high-speed imports with DBMS-vendor specific import tools.
Available Editions
The different editions of the Advanced Data Generator have the same features, except for it's connectivity and the use of "sequences", the latter is only available in the InterBase and Firebird Editions.
Pro Edition
The "Pro Edition" connects to any ODBC or ADO datasource, it has been tested with:

InterBase Edition
The "InterBase Edition" of the Advanced Data Generator only connects to InterBase and comes at a lower license price. It offers access to InterBase specific features and for the rest, the functionality is exactly the same.
The InterBase Edition supports InterBase 6.x and up

Firebird Edition
The "Firebird Edition" of the Advanced Data Generator only connects to Firebird and comes at a lower license price. It offers access to Firebird specific features and for the rest, the functionality is exactly the same.
The Firebird Edition supports Firebird 1.x and 2.x

The "MySQL Edition" of the Advanced Data Generator only connects to MySQL and comes at a lower license price. It offers access to MySQL specific features and for the rest, the functionality is exactly the same.
The MySQL Edition supports MySQL 4.x and up
